Welcome to VIDA, Volunteers for Intercultural and Definitive Adventures, a
resource for globally–minded volunteers. VIDA currently offers volunteer
opportunities in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Panama. In 2009 VIDA will open core
volunteer programs in Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.
We welcome volunteers
from all over the world and adults over 18 years old. (Those individuals under
the age of 18 will be considered on a case by case basis.) VIDA currently offers
adventures to the following country combinations. Costa Rica, Costa
Rica/Nicaragua, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica/Panama.

Typical Daily Schedule
Most VIDA adventures will include at least one homestay experience with a
local family, visits to culturally important sites, exciting recreation day
adventures, and sampling of local culinary specialties. VIDA service trips will
leave you wanting to return to Central America as soon as you get home.
Your typical day during a Costa Rica/Nicaragua service trip:
Day 1 |
Arrival, settle in, change
money, brief general orientation, fruits of Costa Rica class, sorting
donations, dinner, free time. |
Day 2 |
7:30 a.m.: Breakfast and
Costa Rica coffee tasting
8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Service
orientation
12:30 p.m.: Lunch
1:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. service
orientation continued
6:00 p.m.: Dinner
7:00 p.m.: Meet host
families, stay with host families. |
Day 3 |
7:00 a.m.: Breakfast
7:30 a.m.: Bus picks you up
at host family
8:00 a.m.: Work in a field
clinic until 5:00 p.m.
6:00 p.m.: Dinner with family
7:00 p.m.: Free time with

Day 4 |

7:30 a.m.: Bus picks you up

family, free time, call home, write in journal, optional cooking lesson.

Ometepe Island, piñata at orphanage, and free time with the children.
